AMV Soluciones is developing ECO-SHAFT, a CDTI-supported R&D project focused on optimizing continuous melting furnaces.

ECO-SHAFT – Efficient Combustion Optimization in Shaft Furnace Technology is an R&D initiative designed to improve the efficiency, control, and sustainability of continuous melting processes in the metallurgical industry.

The project was created to address one of the major challenges faced by foundries and metal recycling plants: the optimization of charges in continuous operation furnaces. In this type of installation, the process does not take place in closed batches, but continuously, with a constant input of materials and a continuous output of molten metal. As a result, the evolution of the chemical composition, energy consumption, temperature, and final metal quality depends on multiple variables that change in real time.

ECO-SHAFT – Optimization of Continuous Melting Furnaces

Currently, many charging decisions are based on the experience of plant personnel and conservative operating criteria. Although this operational knowledge is essential, the complexity of the process can limit the use of recycled or lower-cost materials, increase energy consumption, and make furnace stability more difficult to maintain. These limitations can result in higher production costs, chemical deviations, additional adjustments, and quality rejections.
For this reason, AMV Soluciones is developing ECO-SHAFT, which aims to overcome these limitations through the development of an advanced predictive system integrated into the ALEA platform. ALEAThe system will be capable of analyzing operational data, modeling furnace behavior, and recommending optimal charging decisions. ECO-SHAFT will take into account factors such as the target chemical composition, material cost, raw material availability, energy efficiency, and process stability.

The solution will enable a more intelligent management of the melting process, promoting greater energy efficiency, improved use of recycled materials, and a reduction in chemical deviations and production rejections.

With this project, AMV Soluciones reinforces its commitment to technological innovation applied to the metallurgical industry, developing tools that help plants reduce costs, improve traceability, and move towards more sustainable, data-driven production processes.
